SELF-ASSESSMENT OF THE IFRS AFFIRMATIVE, INCLUSIVE ACTION AND DIVERSITY POLICY: THE BENTO GONÇALVES CAMPUS CASE
Affirmative Action; Inclusion and Diversity; Federal Institute; Professional and Technological Education.
This research project aims to investigate the possibilities of self-assessment of the Affirmative Action, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The chosen campus for this qualitative, applied, and exploratory research is Campus Bento Gonçalves, as it was the proposing campus during the creation of the Federal Institutes and has implemented and consolidated Affirmative Action centers. The research focuses on the past eight years, since the approval of the Affirmative Action Policy according to Resolution Consup N. 022, dated February 25, 2014. The target audience of the research consists of the coordinators of the Affirmative Action centers, as they are the staff members who have the best knowledge of the topic: the Special Educational Needs Support Center (Napne), the Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies Center (Neabi), and the Gender and Sexuality Studies and Research Center (Nepgs). Three students from the Integrated High School, who have benefited in some way from the Affirmative Action, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy (PAAF), will also be interviewed. Additionally, two Integrated High School teachers who interact with students served by the PAAF, as well as two administrative staff members working in departments directly involved with the policy at Campus Bento Gonçalves of IFRS, will be interviewed. The qualitative and exploratory research focuses on the self-assessment of the Affirmative Action, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy of IFRS, specifically at Campus Bento Gonçalves. The PAAF (IFRS) completes nine years of implementation in 2023 and requires self-assessment to verify if the initially proposed objectives have been achieved. The research will be supported by a bibliographic and documentary study. Subsequently, a semi-structured interview will be conducted to collect the participants' perceptions regarding the actions developed in the policy implementation. After the data analysis and other stages of the research, it is expected to obtain sufficient inputs to create an Educational Product that contributes to the self-assessment process of the PAAF. It is estimated that the created and approved Educational Product will be incorporated into the Institutional Self-Assessment Program, coordinated by the Self-Assessment Commission. The expectation is that this action will allow all stakeholders to evaluate the PAAF, consolidating IFRS as an inclusive institution that values comprehensive education from the perspective of human emancipation, integrating work, education, science, culture, and technology.
