SUMMARY:

This document is a research project of the Professional Master's Degree in Professional and Technological Education - ProfEPT, from the research line Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education (EPT), and aims to expand and encourage accessibility in Libras for deaf candidates in the Selection Processes (PS) of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul IFRS. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) the percentage of people with hearing impairment in the educational field is low. And according to Decree 5626 of 2005, it is guaranteed access to education for the deaf. This Decree is of paramount importance for deaf people, as their first language is the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and the second, used in writing, is Portuguese. Thus, through this research, the author will problematize accessibility for deaf candidates in the IFRS Selection Process. In 2014, the accessibility of tests was started through the video test in Libras and, later, public notices were made available in Libras. This type of accessibility continues to this day, but it is not implemented in all courses, such as postgraduate courses. It was also observed that in the last seven years the number of deaf candidates enrolled was low. This fact is worrying, as the IFRS is a federal institution of public and free education, and therefore should be a model in accessibility in sign language, in order to influence other institutions, given that Libras is a priority for deaf people. Considering what has been presented, this research has the general objective of analyzing how deaf students enter the IFRS Selection Process and the reasons why some deaf candidates are not approved, proposing improvements in accessibility in Libras. The problem that this research intends to answer is: How to improve accessibility in Libras in IFRS Selection Processes? With regard to methodology, this is a research with a qualitative approach, of an applied nature. As for the objectives, it is an exploratory research and case study. With regard to data collection procedures, it is a survey research. This research aims to identify the causes of the low number of deaf applicants in the Selection Processes and thus propose an improvement in the accessibility of the process, so that there is an increase in deaf candidates as well as the quality of Teaching. After collecting and analyzing the data, an educational product will be created in the form of "educational media" with the aim of improving the accessibility of the IFRS selection processes.
