SUMMARY:

Extension constitutes one of the pillars of professional and technological education (EPT) and, together with teaching and research, underpins the dimensions of integral human formation and emancipatory education. Popular social movements constitute fertile ground for dialogic interaction between institution and territory, amplifying the scope, qualifying and legitimizing the execution of proposed actions, by the voices of their leaders. From the dialogue between the institution and such movements, concerns are born. In this context, the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) - Campus Alvorada, whose community listening process began in 2012, is part of the popular struggle for the implementation of a technical school in that municipality. The IFRS Campus Alvorada, being the achievement of popular social movements, is part of the genesis of the EPT in that territory, although its history is fragmented and little known, both by the Alvorada community and by the academic community. In this direction, this research project seeks to organize the history of the implementation of the IFRS - Campus Alvorada and the EPT in the municipality of Alvorada - RS, valuing the memories of the leaders of popular social movements who experienced that period, elaborating an observatory as an educational product, which will have the purpose of registering such memories, as well as contributing to boost the new extension actions that are carried out. It also intends to identify how the Campus' relations with social and popular movements continued, mapping the extension actions carried out in the period from 2015 to 2022, in collaboration or partnership with popular social movements. Inserted in the line of research Organization and Memories of Pedagogical Spaces in Professional and Technological Education, the research proposed here constitutes a qualitative study, based on historical and exploratory and documentary narratives that intends to tell the story of the conception and implementation of Campus Alvorada , based on reports and interviews with leaders of popular social movements who participated in this construction, concomitantly with the collection of documentary records on projects and actions carried out in partnership with such leaders. It is expected to deepen the discussion on the potentialities and difficulties encountered in the course of extension actions carried out in these partnerships from which it is expected to highlight the contributions of extension to local development and to the fight against social inequalities, desires from which struggles emerge of popular social movements and that dialogue directly with the institutional mission of the IFRS. The constitution of the observatory will allow a more complete record of the history of Campus Alvorada and will be a repository for other stories not yet told, opening new dialogues and perspectives for the consolidation of the institution in that territory.
