SUMMARY:

The Technical Course in Libras-Portuguese Translation and Interpretation (TTILS) at IFRS Campus Alvorada has professional practice as the main axis of the students' technical training curriculum. However, to know reality in its historical complexity it is necessary to overcome the apparent and immediate and this is only possible through praxis, which is theoretical-practical activity with the potential for social transformation. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to contribute theoretically to the formation of the political consciousness of the course's students, in order to guarantee a secondary level technical training committed to integral human formation for the critical performance of these future professionals in formal spaces in the world of work. The regulation of the profession of Libras translator, interpreter and guide-interpreter (Tilsp) came through Law No. 12.319 (Brasil, 2010). Tilsp was born within the neoliberal political and economic situation and is a reflection of this dominant model of exploitation and precariousness of work and workers, especially after the Labor Reform. Tilsp, as a professional category, is the result of the historical struggle of the Deaf Community organized politically in order to guarantee their political and social rights and not as a necessity of the capitalist mode of production. From the mapping carried out in the databases of Capes, Scielo, ProfEPT Observatory, BDTD, among others, it was noticed that there is a gap on the topic. In order to contribute to the teaching and formation of political awareness of future TTILS graduates, the research will be qualitative and explanatory in nature, with bibliographic and documentary procedures. The semi-structured form will be used as a data collection instrument, which will involve the participation of course graduates. Contributing to the formation of the political consciousness of this professional category, as a working class aware of the ontology of work, based on historical-dialectical materialism, becomes urgent and Professional and Technological Education (EPT) can be the path to taking action, awareness, considering that IFRS Campus Alvorada is the only public institution in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) that offers the Subsequent Technical course in Libras Translation and Interpretation and has work as an educational principle in its guidelines. This work is part of the research line Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education (EPT) of the Postgraduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (PROFEPT), Porto Alegre Campus of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul. South (IFRS).
