LOOKING FROM THE FLOOR, THE ROOM IS THE UNIVERSE: an inventory of the nursery walls
Early Childhood Education; babies; reference room; photographs; podcast. This research proposes to inventory and analyze the visual, symbolic, and material elements present on the walls of the nursery's reference rooms, with the aim of analyzing and understanding what these walls communicate, promoting a critical reflection on the space, protagonism, authorship, aesthetics, and belonging of babies in daycare. Based on qualitative research, a methodology is established, elaborated in the form of an inventory, from photographic records of the walls of the reference rooms of the Nursery I and II groups of four public preschools in the Municipal Early Childhood Education Network of Bento Gonçalves, located in different regions of the municipality. The research question is: what do the walls of the nursery's reference room communicate, supporting and expressing concepts of childhood and teaching, and how do they evidence the presence and participation of the babies? Inserted within the research line Teacher Training, Curricula and Pedagogical Practices in Basic Education, the research is based on the theoretical field of Early Childhood Pedagogy and uses participant observation and photographic records for data production. The photographic collection will be systematically organized and categorized, resulting in an album that aims to present the visual elements gathered during the research. After the images are produced, a cataloging process will be carried out, including a detailed description of each record. The data produced will be organized and analyzed through thematic content analysis, according to Bardin (2011), articulating with the theoretical frameworks and reflective notes of the researcher. As an educational product, an educational podcast will be developed, organized into six thematic episodes. Each episode will feature special guests (teachers, managers, researchers, and specialists) and will discuss pedagogical spaces from an aesthetic and ethical perspective on childhood, with themes that emerge from the photographic records. The podcast aims to contribute to continuing education in the field of Early Childhood Education, broadening perspectives on environments as territories of experiences, narratives, and rights, and will be available on digital audio and video platforms (Spotify and YouTube), expanding access, reach, and dialogue with different audiences.
