SUMMARY:

Early vocabulary development is a determining factor in expanding linguistic skills and building expressive autonomy in early childhood education. Although official documents recognize the centrality of language as a structuring axis of this stage, evidence indicates that systematic shared reading practices are not yet fully consolidated in Brazilian institutions, revealing a mismatch between normative guidelines and their implementation in daily pedagogical practice. In this context, this research aims to analyze literary works from the first collection intended for early childhood education within the scope of the National Textbook and Didactic Material Program (PNLD), in order to identify target words with the potential for vocabulary expansion and, based on this analysis, propose strategies for intentional linguistic mediation. The investigation is characterized as exploratory, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, articulating bibliographic research and documentary analysis of the works. As an educational product, it proposes the development of a shared reading project aimed at improving pedagogical mediations and strengthening systematic literary reading practices in early childhood education.
