SUMMARY:

This research project aims to define evaluation criteria that will enable the construction of a rubric/instrument for the evaluation of educational robotics artifacts and their pedagogical potential from a constructionist teaching perspective. In order to reach the determined objectives, this study started from the bibliographic review through literature review, bringing to light seminal and contemporary authors who identify with the constructionist concept of teaching and learning, such as Seymour Papert, Jean Piaget, Paulo Freire, Gary Stager, Mitchel Resnick, Paulo Blikstein, José Armando Valente, José Moran, Léa Fagundes, Lilian Bacich, among others, and the search for related works. Next, the criteria that integrated the rubric/instrument were established. These criteria were adopted according to bibliographic review on theories and pedagogical approaches that relate to the universe of educational robotics and its classroom use possibilities, such as constructionism, active learning methods, STEAM education, maker culture, creative learning, computational thinking and educational robotics. The merging of educational robotics with the teaching and learning concepts and approaches presented in this study expand the possibilities for learners to explore available resources and improve their knowledge, profiting from experiences, inventions and the creation of additional technologies. In this context, robotic artifacts were evaluated through the rubric/instrument created and they will be made available for teachers of both the first year of high school and the after-school program, so they can contemplate the use of these artifacts in their lesson plans that make use of educational robotics. Based on the instrument/rubric applied in the evaluation of the robotic artifact and observations, in addition to questionnaires completed during the intervention, we will be able to evaluate educational robotics artifacts and their pedagogical potential. The analysis of educational robotics artifacts helps to understand the potential of a new tool, answering critical questions about its use, adoption, impact and success or otherwise. Overall, analyzing robotics kits is important to better understand how they are used by schools, to identify any problems that may exist in their application, to verify if they are being used with the advisable area and audience, and most of all to evaluate robotic artifacts in order to validate them pedagogically before their acquisition by educational institutions.
