SUMMARY:

The Geographical Indication (GI) is configured as a relevant instrument for the protection of industrial property, as it ensures the recognition of a territory whose singular characteristics and typical features of a given product or service are intrinsically associated with it. This study aims to present a structured model (framework) for the development of the descriptive report of Geographical Indications, based on the analysis of the structuring process of the Alto Taquari GI. The territory is located in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, recognized for the production of yerba mate, a native tree of the Atlantic Forest biome and a symbol of the state. The research will analyze and systematize the GI structuring process, outlining the chronology of its key milestones, identifying the actors involved, the territorial mobilization, the relationships established, and the mapping of the stages developed. It adopts a qualitative approach, with a descriptive and interpretative nature, grounded in content analysis. The methodological procedures will include document review, semi-structured interviews, non-participant direct observation, and field records, followed by the analysis and validation of the collected data. Finally, the systematization of the GI structuring process will be presented through the development of a descriptive report that records the main milestones, actors, and stages involved in its construction. It is expected that the interpretation and organization of the information will allow the achievement of the proposed objectives, contributing to the preservation of the institutional memory of the GI and to the organization of a documentary basis that may support future initiatives, studies, and actions related to its consolidation.
